Taproom Team/Bartender:

Moderation Brewing is seeking passionate and knowledgeable folks to join our growing team at our new location in Brunswick, Maine. We serve our own craft brews as well as guest drafts,
ciders, and a full wine program.

Our bartenders will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, backed by knowledge of our unique beer, hops, and fermentation, and our wines and other beverage offerings. We are seeking team members with strong interpersonal skills, drive, and a desire to learn more about beer and the brewing industry.

From the quality of the beer, to the atmosphere of the tasting room, and the level of service they receive, a guest’s impression of the brewery begins as soon as they walk through the door. We are seeking team members who understand hospitality and pride themselves on customer service. 

Ideal team members will have a strong sense of ownership, and a true passion for craft beer, the beverage industry, and Maine. The ability to multitask, quickly solve problems and think on your feet are a must for this position.

In addition to the day-to-day activities, servers will be expected to learn everything they can about our beers, their production, and the craft beer world in general. They will be expected to guide guests to drinks they would enjoy, and explain the differences between staple and seasonal styles. They also will need to learn our wine program and be able to guide guests through the various styles.

Responsibilities:

• Greeting and interacting with guests and other team members in a friendly and fun way

• Serve customers quickly and efficiently and with a mind for professionalism and hospitality

• Accurately guiding guests to beer styles they will enjoy, ensuring they are satisfied

• Pour and serve beer, wine, NA options, and more

• Bussing and resetting bartop or tables promptly

• Washing and cleaning glassware

• Changing kegs and restocking supplies

• Cleaning bar, brewery, bathrooms, and beer garden throughout shift to maintain a clean work environment

• Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and restocking supplies

• Communicate any issues or trends to manager

• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Prior bartending or service industry experience preferred. 

• Demonstrated knowledge of craft beer and/or wine, including basic understand of beer and wine production (Cicerone Beer Server or ServSafe or TIPS or similar industry certifications preferred.) 

• Must understand alcohol safety and the signs of intoxication and be able to use appropriate discretion in serving beer to customers

• Be able to safely lift 50 lbs. 

• Be able to stand for 8 hours and extended periods of time. 

• Work days, nights, or weekends as required

• Attention to detail and ability to problem solve and multi-task

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and maintain collegial relationships. Must be flexible, collaborative and have a positive attitude. Sense of humor a plus!

• Ensure all financial transactions are accurate, calculate and return appropriate change.

• Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours a week with more hours available. 

• Strong Communication skills

Moderation Brewing opened in March of 2018. Started by two Brunswick locals, Mattie Daughtry and Philip Welsh, the pair are passionate about crafting beer that highlights local ingredients and unusual yeasts. Originally located at 103 Maine Street in Brunswick, Moderation is beginning it’s next chapter at 21 Town Hall Place in the restored Central Fire Station.
